Mini Love with Island Batik

As Island Batik Ambassadors we're given fabric to make beautiful things throughout the year. February's theme is Mini Love, and I made some small things to show you that you can use even the smallest scraps. These fabrics are so beautiful that I have to use up every inch of it.

Scrap Happy Day i februar

Scraps as usual the 15th. Look at Rutigt, she's making the cutest quilt from the smallest scraps. You'll also find links to other blogs with scrap projects.

I have started to join four and four blocks together, and also made seven new blocks.

Happy Galentine's Day!

In Norway we are getting more familiar with Valentine's Day. But I don't know if you know something about Galentine's Day. Actually it is the day before Valentine's, and it's celebrating lady friendship. I made a card for all my sewing friends. And as a present to you, I'll give you a tutorial on how to make it.

As  Island Batik Ambassadors we are given fabric to make something for this day, and for months to come. My box for this year hasn't arrived yet, but I had some small pieces left from earlier projects. So I made this beautiful card. So happy to use all the different seams on my sewing machine.

A nice project to use all my tiniest scraps. Sewn on a foundation.

I made me a paper template to cut the heart

I I sewed the heart to a background and batting
Aurifil Thread is great to use in all seams here
Sewed the binding to the front, turned around and glued it to the back
Glued a card on the back side, and sewed two rounds on the edge
The finished card. Happy Galentine's!

Here you can see what the other Island Batik Ambassadors made for Galentines Day. And stay tuned for more eye candy the next weeks.

The jigsaw puzzle is almost finished. Some small flowers and black hexies are needed to fill in the last two corners.

Bold and brave challenge 9 - 3

Number 3 of the challenges from Persimon Dreams' Project Quilting was "bold and brave". I'm not at home, and without my sewing machine I really had to be brave to start a project for this challenge. I had brought with me beautiful small scraps of batik fabrics from Island Batik. So my brain was spinning around, and I started to think of hexagon shapes (strange huh?). I cut them out from old magazines, and started a little star. I appliqued it to a background, and hand stitched around. And it ended up as a sweet little pincushion, 2 1/2" square.

Tredje utfordring i Prosjekt Quilting fra Persimon Dreams hadde tema "bold and brave".

Traveling, and I had to sew my next hundred like this. It's the last diamond, and you can see where it's going.

I suddenly found this old half hexagon work, and made a couple of new blocks for it. So fun after all the hexagons I'm normally working with. Then I got this beautiful penguin pincushion from Janora in USA. I think he will keep my most  beautiful pins. As you can see he has already found a new friend here in Norway. Thank you so much Janora, he's the cutest.

Triangulation Challenge 9-2

On the blog Persimon Dreams  there are challenges every other week just now. This week's challenge is triangulation. And as I've got lots of scraps, I started to cut out triangles. And when I finished sewing triangles in four rows, I put them together like a log cabin. And my snowman show you the result here. Size: 9" x 10". From Sunday evening it's possible to vote on this and other fantastic works participating in this challenge. You just click the link and the heart in the corner, and you've got 10 votes.
